Monday's are my least favorite day of the week - at least during the school year ;) So I thought to try and alleviate the Monday's Blues, I'd share what we did over the weekend.
Friday afternoon my daughter & I made a trip to Hobby Lobby (always a great way to begin the weekend!) and picked up supplies for a new craft or two. I'm sure I'll be posting about them soon!
Saturday highlights included a trip to Lights on the Lake - we hadn't made it yet for the season and Saturday was the last day, so we made it just in time. If you don't know what Lights on the Lake is, it's a two mile drive-thru light show. There are animated light scenes, lots of arches to drive under, and thousands of twinkling lights. It's really a sight to see! And kids love it - including my daughter who kept saying "WOAH!" "WOAH!" "WOAH!" at every new scene. If only everything could be as magical as it is to a child!
Saturday also included de-decorating (new word!) from Christmas, picking up/cleaning, ad re-arranging the living room furniture . It's a depressing task - but things were getting a little out of control on the messy scale, and I couldn't procrastinate any longer. I really REALLY wish I had taken pictures of this process because it certainly got worse before it got any better! I was especially sad to put away the Christmas decor this year because I had made/added a bunch of new decorations and wish I could keep them out longer. Here's a look a some of our decorations this year:
I love stacked up piles of bulbs!
The advent calendar I made - my daughter LOVED it!
Our wrap-around mantel (kind of a challenge to decorate during non-Christmas time!)
I LOVE how this turned out! (This is the one thing I actually haven't taken down yet! and...I have a possible idea on what I can do to keep it up longer without looking out of season - more to come!
We started a Christmas village this year as well - the mantel works great for this!
So...there is some of the decor we've been looking at for the last month and a half. Now it's looks VERY empty around here! I decided not to take out my old decorations unless I like them and want to keep them out. Instead, I hoping this will motivate me to work on new decor that I actually like!
*We'll see if this works!*
I do have some decor/DIY projects plans for this year and I'll be sharing them soon! I'll also be updating you on some projects that we started/completed/are in progress from last year as well...stay tuned!
Have you de-decorated from Christmas? Is it as depressing to you as it is to me or do you feel a sense of renewal and cleaning?
Kristin
